Dispose of radioactive waste

We receive, treat and store waste

I f you use radioactive materials, you are legally obliged to deliver the radioactive waste to Danish Decommissioning. We are responsible for treating and storing the waste.

We accept both smoke alarms, solid and liquid radioactive material as well as open and closed radioactive sources. The waste must be of Danish origin or have been used in Denmark for a long time. We do not accept NORM waste* for this type of waste, please refer to The Danish Health Authority, Radiation Protection (SIS).

*) NORM stands for Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material and comes from the English term Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material.

The process for handing over waste to us is as follows:

    1. You report the waste items via this website - see more info below
    2. We prepare the takeover of the waste internally and contact you with any questions
    3. You will receive a receipt informing you that the waste can be handed over to us, together with contact information
    4. You contact us to arrange a date and time for the handover
    5. You arrange for the transport and delivery of the waste on the agreed date and at the agreed time (usually between 10 am and 1 pm)

Notification of waste items
