Inquisitive Conservationists on Guided Tour

Nanna Høegh Wenzell is a member of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation and employed by DD as an operations engineer. On Tuesday, March 28, these two aspects converged when she invited the local branch of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation for a guided tour of her workplace.

AAt four o'clock in the afternoon, nearly 40 curious nature conservationists were ready at the gate and were led down the avenue in the mild spring weather. Director Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen welcomed them in the meeting pavilion and provided an introduction to DD's responsibilities – with a particular focus on the management of radioactive waste. The time allocated for a subsequent Q&A session proved insufficient, as the group had a multitude of questions.

Subsequently, the group was divided into two and shown around the temporary waste storage facilitys by Heidi Sjølin Thomsen, project manager for the long-term waste solution, and Nanna Høegh Wenzell respectively. Here, too, the question was great, so even though the event was actually set to last an hour and a half, it had been two and a half hours when the guests were again standing outside Risø's gate.
