Aug. 5 Come to the open house at Danish Decommissioning on August 26, 2026

Are you curious to see the historic nuclear facilities at Risø, and at the same time learn more about how we store and manage Denmark’s radioactive waste, as well as what it entails to decommission the facilities at Risø?

Registration is now open for the open house at Danish Decommissioning on August 26, 2026.

It will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The tour itself includes a walk around the part of the Risø Peninsula where Dansk Dekommissionering is currently carrying out its work at the nuclear facilities.

We will also visit selected storage facilities where Denmark's radioactive waste is stored.

This is a 3-kilometer tour, and the entire tour will take place outdoors, so please remember appropriate footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.

Practical Information
Participation in the 2026 Open House is free.
There is a maximum of 75 participants, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
You must be at least 14 years old to enter the storage facilities.
The tour takes place outdoors.
The tour is approximately 3 km.

Upon arrival at Risø, you will be greeted by a DD staff member at the gatehouse, where you will “check in.”
Please allow 15 minutes for check-in at the gatehouse, as well as for the drive from the gatehouse to the Risø auditorium and parking there.

Since we're going to see * the storage facilities *, closed-toe shoes and long pants are required.

Evening Program:
• 5:00 PM – Presentation, ”About Danish Decommissioning” by Danish Decommissioning's Director, Steen Nordstrøm
• 5:30 PM – Guided tours in groups
• 7:00 PM – Sandwiches and Q&A
• 7:30 PM – Farewell

There is a maximum number of 75 participants and places will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are unable to attend after registering, we would appreciate it if you would contact us to cancel your registration so that another person can take your place.
