Oct 02 A Risø bite in the city of smiles
The exhibition "The Curious Man – Exploring an Invisible World" has just opened at the Science History Steno Museum in Aarhus. Among the exhibits are several treasures from the Risø Research Centre.
U The exploration of atoms and particles is at the center of the newly opened exhibition, where communication and set design come together to speak to the visitor's senses. Niels Bohr's pipe, a fog chamber and not least a piece of the giant particle accelerator from CERN in Switzerland are among the many objects that convey the wonders of science.
A section of the exhibition is about how new discoveries and inventions can both be vital and at the same time have unintended and dangerous consequences. Selected objects from the Risø Research Centre, together with examples of protest songs, news in TV and newspaper front pages, tell the story of a long and still topical discussion on the use of nuclear power and nuclear weapons.
