24 Jan New Year's treat at Danish Decommissioning - more than just a tradition
At Danish Decommissioning , a new year also means gathering all employees for the traditional New Year's Eve party.
OnJanuary 15, all of DD's approx. 90 employees gathered for a New Year's party. The smiley of the year for 2024 was handed out, and thoughts were shared about the coming year and the exciting tasks that lie ahead for Danish Decommissioning (DD) in 2025.
Handing out the smileys
In addition to some non-alcoholic bubbles and a piece of cake, diplomas for this year's smileys were also handed out, and to understand what this part is all about, we must first explain the smiley scheme in DD.
In all its simplicity, the scheme means that DD's employees have the opportunity to create yellow or green smiley faces on the organization's intranet. A yellow smiley highlights a work environment challenge and a green smiley is typically recognition of a colleague.
The yellow smileys are particularly important to ensure that any health and safety issues are addressed before they potentially create bigger challenges. Therefore, DD's employees are continuously encouraged to remember, and be aware, to report if they encounter things that may be inappropriate.
As part of this awareness, DD's health and safety committee annually awards the yellow and green smiley of the year. The award ceremony is handed out by DD's health and safety coordinator.
The year 2025
Predicting the year ahead is always a difficult exercise, but nevertheless, there are tasks in DD that are in process and entering some exciting phases in 2025. This was put into words by Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen, CEO of DD.
Special focus is on the New Upgraded Warehouse (NOL), where 2025 will be spent on the continued progress of the project. A project you can read more about here (link to news) - New Upgraded Warehouse (NOL) - The process behind Denmark's first of its kind Danish Decommissioning
Finally, everyone wished everyone a Happy New Year, and with that, 2025 kicked off in earnest.
