24 Jan New Year's Event at Danish Decommissioning – more than just a tradition
At Danish Decommissioning, the turn of the year also signifies the gathering of all employees for the traditional New Year's Event.
On January 15th, all of DD's approximately 90 employees gathered for a New Year's event. During this gathering, the year's 'smileys' for 2024 were awarded, and perspectives were shared on the upcoming year and the exciting tasks anticipated for Danish Decommissioning (DD) in 2025.
Awarding of Smileys
In addition to non-alcoholic sparkling beverages and a piece of marzipan cake, diplomas for the year's 'smileys' were presented. To fully comprehend this aspect, we must first elucidate DD's 'smiley' scheme.
The scheme, in its essence, enables DD's employees to create yellow or green 'smileys' on the organisation's intranet. A yellow smiley draws attention to a work environment challenge, whereas a green smiley typically serves as an acknowledgement of a colleague.
The yellow 'smileys' are particularly vital to ensure that any work environment challenge is resolved before it can potentially create more significant issues. Consequently, DD's employees are continuously encouraged to remain mindful and vigilant in reporting any observations that may indicate suboptimal conditions.
As part of this emphasis on awareness, DD's work environment committee annually designates the year's yellow and green 'smileys'. The presentation of these awards is managed by DD's work environment coordinator.

The Year 2025
Forecasting the upcoming year always presents a challenge; however, several ongoing projects at DD are poised to enter exciting phases in 2025. Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen, Director at DD, elaborated on these developments.
Particular emphasis is placed on the New Upgraded Storage Facility (NOL), with 2025 dedicated to the continued advancement of this project.
