July 1st Open house 2025
Danish Decommissioning invites you to an open house at Risø again this year. The date is August 21, 2025.
Getclose to the nuclear facilities and learn more about how we store and manage Denmark's radioactive waste and decommission the facilities at Risø when Danish Decommissioning invites you to an open house.
It will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 17.00-19.30.
The tour itself will take us around the part of the Risø peninsula where the buildings that have housed the nuclear facilities are located and where the work of Danish Decommissioning is currently carried out.
We will also visit selected storage facilities where Denmark's radioactive waste is stored.
It's a 3-kilometer walk and the whole walk will be outdoors, so bring good footwear and clothes suitable for the weather.
Practical information
Participation in Open House 2025 is free of charge.
The maximum number of participants is 75 and places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
You must be at least 14 years old to enter the storage facilities.
The tour takes place outdoors.
The tour is approximately 3 km.
Upon arrival at Risø, you will be welcomed by a DD employee at the gate guard where you will be 'checked in'.
Please allow 15 min. for check-in at the gate guard and driving from the gate guard to Danish Decommissioning.
As we are going to see the storage facilities , closed shoes and long pants are required.
The evening's program:
- 17.00 - Presentation, "About Danish Decommissioning" by Steen Nordstrøm, Director of Danish Decommissioning
- 17.30 - Guided tour in groups
- 19.00 - Sandwich and questions
- 19.30 - Thank you for today

If you want to come to the open day, you need to register via the form below, as we need to notify the gatekeeper of your arrival and purchase light refreshments.
After registering, you will receive more information by email when we are closer to the open house date.
Participation is free of charge.
There is a maximum number of 75 participants and places will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
