Open House 2025 at Danish Decommissioning was a success

More than 70 people visited Danish Decommissioning on Thursday, August 21, when the Open House 2025 was hosted.

The unique combination of the Decommissioning of the nuclear facilities at Risø, combined with the management of Danish radioactive waste, is a societal task that interests many.

Most clearly illustrated by the fact that Danish Decommissioning (DD) again this year had to announce all places were taken for this year's Open House.

Sold-out Open House
DD's largest room can accommodate 75 guests, and all chairs were occupied when Steen Nordstrøm, Director of Danish Decommissioning, welcomed them and elaborated on the history of Risø, DD's tasks, and the future perspectives for Danish radioactive waste.

Tour of the Area
After the presentation, the many attendees were divided into 3 groups, each with at least 2 guides consisting of various DD employees, and then it was time to tour the part of the scenic Risø where DD carries out its operations.

The tour lasted approximately one and a half hours, during which visitors saw both the Hot Cells facility, the building that previously housed DR2, as well as the low-level and buffer storage facility.

The evening's event concluded with a sandwich, and throughout the event, there was ample opportunity to ask questions and receive answers.

Our sincere thanks to the attendees who dedicated an evening to visit.
