In 2011, in the interest of prevention, focus was once again placed on increasing the reporting frequency of near-miss incidents. The goal was to double the number from 10 to 20. A total of 14 reports were received.
DDD annually publishes a work environment report, which delineates DD's work environment objectives and details new initiatives and projects that have posed specific challenges in this domain throughout the year.
In 2011, for preventive purposes, focus was once again placed on increasing the reporting frequency of near-miss incidents. The objective was to double the number from 10 to 20. A total of 14 reports were received. This initiative will continue in 2012.
During the year, 8 work accidents occurred, which fortunately were not serious and did not result in lost workdays. (The goals for 2012 are again zero lost-time accidents.)
The cleaning of the Hot Cell facility presented particular challenges in the work environment area due to the facility's complexity. For instance, some work operations had to be rehearsed in a non-radioactive environment before their execution.
