05 Mar Steen Nordstrøm Appointed Director of Danish Decommissioning
Effective March 15, 2025, Steen Nordstrøm will assume the position of Director for Danish Decommissioning (DD)
Steen Nordstrøm comes from a position as Head of Office for Intelligence and Cyber in the Ministry of Defence.
Prior to this, Steen Nordstrøm served for several years as Head of Office at The Danish Emergency Management Agency, with responsibility for nuclear emergency preparedness, which is one of DD's two supervisory authorities.
Steen Nordstrøm's educational background includes a master's degree in political science from Aarhus University, as well as a master's degree in political science from the University of Washington.
An Exciting Future
DD, and radioactive waste, are not new territories for Steen Nordstrøm, who possesses in-depth knowledge of the field from his time as Head of Nuclear Emergency Preparedness at The Danish Emergency Management Agency.
Therefore, Steen Nordstrøm assumes his position with a profound understanding of the field, and in this regard, he looks forward to an exciting future at DD:
”I look forward to commencing the exciting work ahead of us at Danish Decommissioning and contributing to the unique societal task of managing Denmark's radioactive waste safely and with the involvement of relevant stakeholders. Many interesting tasks lie ahead, including the continued strengthening of public safety concerning radioactive waste, the new upgraded storage facility, and the work on the final repository, which by 2073 at the latest, must accommodate Denmark's radioactive waste.”
