Aug 24 Intermediate Sub-inventory Sub-report
COWI A/S has now delivered the report "Safety, economy and operation for a Danish intermediate storage solution for radioactive waste".
R The report forms the first part of the additional intermediate stock surveys decided by the political parties on 11 March 2015 (see the basis for decision-making and the mission statement).
In the report, COWI addresses the following topics:
- Facilities at a Danish intermediate storage facility
- Proposal for an operational organisation
- Estimate of total cost of operating an intermediate stock for 100 years
- Comparison of security at intermediate and end depot respectively
- Estimate of total cost of an intermediate storage facility with subsequent final deposit
Next steps
By the end of 2016, a comprehensive report will be available with the additional studies on an intermediate storage solution. It is based on cowi's report and on a report from GEUS (Geological Surveys of Denmark and Greenland) on localisation criteria, including socio-economic factors.
The choice of a long-term solution must then be dealt with politically in the course of 2017.
