On 27 October, the Finance Committee of the Folketing approved a document on the decommissioning of the Hot Cell plant.
Therevised plan for the decommissioning of the six concrete cells can thus proceed, with an increase in the total cost from DKK 23 million to DKK 45 million, corresponding to a total increase of DKK 22 million in 2016-2020.
"The Hot Cell plant is the most complicated of the plants we have to decommission. We can only draw on limited experience from abroad, and it has been necessary to rethink the whole task and develop new methods and tools," says Director Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen of the background to the act, adding, "Overall, we still expect to stay within the financial framework set for the decommissioning of all plants."
