Parliamentary document on Hot Cells approved

The Danish Parliament's Finance Committee on October 27, approved a parliamentary resolution concerning the decommissioning of the Hot Cell facility.

The revised plan for the Decommissioning of the six concrete cells can therefore proceed, with an increase in total expenditure from DKK 23 million to DKK 45 million, representing a total increase of DKK 22 million for the period 2016-2020.

“The Hot Cell facility is the most complex of the facilities we are tasked with decommissioning. We can only rely on foreign experience to a limited extent, and it has been necessary to rethink the entire task and develop new methods and tools,” states Director Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen, explaining the rationale behind the bill, and adds: “Overall, we still expect to remain within the financial framework established for the Decommissioning of all facilities.”
