The Work Environment 2019

Read about the initiatives and results DD achieved in 2019 to maintain a good work environment. Due to the current lockdown, the report will be published later than usual.

In addition to the conventional work environment, DD must also consider that we work with materials that emit ionizing radiation or are radioactively contaminated.

As an example of our specific challenges, this year's work environment report describes how we have addressed the need to handle large pieces of radioactive waste and divide them into smaller pieces for storage in containers. Our new segmentation facility enables us to perform this task in a work environment-safe manner.

Regarding radiation and nuclear safety, the work environment report concludes that performance in 2019 was satisfactory. All individual radiation doses to personnel remained below the permitted annual dose limits and established dose constraints. Furthermore, all releases of radioactive substances to the environment from DD's nuclear facilities were below the reporting and discharge limits stipulated by the authorities. No incidents occurred that could otherwise impact the environment.

Regarding the conventional work environment, the assessment is that the overall result in 2019 is less satisfactory, as the goal of zero work accidents was not achieved.
