Work Environment Report 2023

Danish Decommissioning's work environment report for 2023 has been published, providing further details on the work environment results for 2023.

At Danish Decommissioning (DD), the work environment is a central area of great importance for both the planning and execution of tasks. In a company like DD, with a broadly composed employee group and task portfolio, many different elements collectively constitute the work environment.

Specifically, working with ionizing radiation means that the work environment report distinguishes between the conventional work environment and the health physics work environment.

A distinction we find necessary and meaningful, partly because it both facilitates comparison with other workplaces and simultaneously makes the report easier to read and understand.

Report's Conclusions
The 2023 work environment report outlines the work environment milestones for 2023.

A selection of these include the execution of a major emergency preparedness exercise in 2023, the initiation of a detailed action plan based on the 2022 APV, the completion of an environmental screening, the implementation of first aid training, and much more.

The complete list can be found in the 2023 work environment report.

For 2023, four objectives were established, three of which were achieved.

Goal 1: No conventional work accidents (not achieved)
Goal 2: No planned work tasks resulting in effective radiation doses exceeding 1 mSv/month (achieved)
Goal 3: No planned work tasks resulting in extremity doses exceeding 5 mSv/week (achieved)
Goal 4: No planned work tasks resulting in the spread of radioactive contamination outside work areas or into areas not classified by health physics (achieved).

The conclusion of the 2023 work environment report states that Goal 1 was not met, as there were 6 work accidents at DD in 2023. It further notes that “the number of days during which the injured parties were incapacitated for work did not exceed six calendar days.” – Work Environment Report 2023, p. 14.

Thus, the 6 work accidents were not associated with extended absence.

Last year, this figure was 5 work accidents, one of which involved prolonged absence.
