Danish Decommissioning Expands the Executive Board with Director of Radiation Protection

Mikkel Øberg has joined the Executive Board of Danish Decommissioning (DD) as Director of Radiation Protection, expanding from 2 to 3 members

Itis a familiar name that on the year of its 10th anniversary at DD, now joins the Executive Board.

An executive board that previously consisted of DD's director Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen and technical director and nuclear expert Kirsten Hjerrild Nielsen. But which is now expanded with Mikkel Øberg as Director of Radiation Protection.

Director of Radiation Protection
The position of Director of Radiation Protection is a newly created position that has been created based on a desire to strengthen this area in DD.

Radiation protection is a very large part of the work that goes on in DD, whether it is development projects, decommissioning or waste management. Therefore, it makes sense to have a Director of Radiation Protection to ensure that this part is also represented at the top management level in the organisation.

Mikkel Øberg talks about the expansion of the management team:

- "DD performs highly specialized, technically heavy work. Solving even some of our simplest tasks requires a wide range of disciplines, and we wouldn't get anywhere without blacksmiths, machinists, laboratory technicians, office assistants, engineers, physicists and all other good people. What they all have in common, however, is that radiation protection permeates all our work. It's hard to get through a workday out here without encountering either a shoe change sign, a dosimeter or a work plan. So by putting radiation protection on the board, we are sending a clear signal that radiation protection is a core area for us."

Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen, CEO of Danish Decommissioning, puts the following words on the expansion of the management team:

- "The radiation protection area is of great importance for the strategic decisions in DD and adding Mikkel Øberg to the Executive Board will increase DD's strategic decision-making power."

The Executive Board will thus cover all the essential task areas: technical solutions and operations, radiation protection issues, political and administrative issues, and development tasks.
