May 31 Danish Decommissioning expands its executive management with a Director of Radiation Protection
Mikkel Øberg has joined Danish Decommissioning's (DD) executive management as Director of Radiation Protection, expanding the board from 2 to 3 members.
It is a well-known name who, in the year of his 10th anniversary at DD, now joins the Executive Management.
An Executive Management that previously consisted of DD's Director Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen, and Technical Director and Nuclear Expert Kirsten Hjerrild Nielsen. This management is now expanded with Mikkel Øberg as Director of Radiation Protection.
Director of Radiation Protection
The position of Director of Radiation Protection is a newly created role, established to strengthen this area within DD.
Radiation protection constitutes a significant part of the work conducted at DD, whether it involves development projects, decommissioning, or waste management. Therefore, it is logical to have a Director of Radiation Protection to ensure that this aspect is also represented at the highest management level within the organisation.
Mikkel Øberg himself comments on the expansion of the Executive Management:
– “DD performs highly specialized, technically complex work. Solving even our simplest tasks requires a multitude of professional disciplines, and we would not have achieved anything without welders, marine engineers, laboratory technicians, office assistants, engineers, physicists, and all other skilled personnel. What is common to all, however, is that radiation protection largely permeates all our work. It is difficult to get through a workday here without encountering either a sign for shoe change, a dosimeter, or a work plan. Therefore, by incorporating radiation protection into the Executive Management, we send a clear signal that radiation protection is a core area for us.”
Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen, Director of Danish Decommissioning, comments on the expansion of the Executive Management as follows:
– “The field of radiation protection is of great importance for strategic decisions at DD, and the expansion of the Executive Management with Mikkel Øberg will enhance DD’s strategic decision-making capability.”
The Executive Management will thus cover all essential areas of responsibility: technical solutions and operations, radiation protection matters, political and administrative affairs, and development tasks.
