17 Mar Danish Decommissioning Invites Upper Secondary Schools for a Visit
As part of Research Day 2026, Danish Decommissioning opens its doors to students and teachers from upper secondary schools and 9th grade classes.
How are radioactive materials handled safely? And how are physics, chemistry, and mathematics applied in practice when managing Denmark's radioactive waste on a daily basis?
Students and teachers can experience this firsthand when we open the gates to Risø this year and invite them to a series of special guided tours during Research Day 2026.
These tours are specifically aimed at students and teachers from upper secondary schools and 9th grade classes.
We offer a rare insight into how we apply physics, chemistry, and mathematics in practice to manage Denmark's radioactive waste – safely and professionally.
The event will be held five times:
April 20–24, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Monday to Friday)
The event consists of:
Technical Presentation
A scientific staff member will discuss the practical work with radioactivity and demonstrate how subjects such as physics, chemistry, and mathematics are applied daily at DD.
Guided Tour
Participants will get a unique look into the storage facilities where Denmark's radioactive waste is stored – and gain insight into how safety, technology, and natural science go hand in hand in our work.
