Dec 13 Finland as part of the expert group
The expert group advising Denmark on the long-term solution for our radioactive waste has been extended by one member.
DDD has now reached an agreement with Posiva, the organisation , which manages Finland's radioactive waste and its final disposal, to join our international technical group as an additional advisor. The group has so far consisted of experts from four organisations:
- COVRA, Netherlands
- Miljö organisations kärnavfallsgranskning, Sweden
- Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB, Sweden
- Institutt for Energiteknikk, Norway
"We are pleased that Posiva has agreed to provide us with expert assistance. Finland already has experience in the disposal of low- and intermediate-level waste and is at the same time the most advanced country in the world with a geological end storage for spent fuel," it notes. DD Director Ole Kastbjerg Nielsen and continues: "The Dutch, Swedish and Norwegian experiences in dealing with radioactive waste have so far been very useful, and now we look forward to benefiting from the Finnish experience as well."
