13 Dec Milestone 2010: Clearing of the First Deck
The dismantling of the "horizontal silicon" physics setup on research reactor DR 3 marked the achievement of one of the year's significant milestones. The first deck has now been entirely cleared of pipes, wiring, and experimental installations.
12 Dec "Hot Spots" Removed from Hot Cells
"Hot Spots" refer to small, highly radioactive items that were inadvertently dropped onto surfaces during operational periods. Their removal is crucial for reducing the overall radiation levels in the waste generated from the subsequent sandblasting of the concrete cells.
06 Jul A Summer Update on the Projects
This year's three primary projects encompass the sandblasting of the Hot Cell facility's six concrete cells, the dismantling of DR 3's peripheral systems, the planning for the decommissioning of the reactor block, and preliminary studies for a final repository for low- and intermediate-level waste.
