What's happening at Danish Decommissioning?

Radioactivity is a natural part of everyone's life, yet few truly understand its nature. Mikkel Øberg, a health physicist at DD, aims to address this, partly by volunteering this year as a communicator for "Science on Tour".

The Dutch company Mammoet has once again visited DD to assist with a heavy-lift operation. This time, the large container holding the shielding ring from the DR 3 reactor needed to be refilled.

The mechanical arms, responsible for decontaminating the highly contaminated Hot Cells of radioactivity, have experienced an involuntary pause. The fourth cell slated for decontamination was found to contain significant quantities of fine airborne dust, which almost adheres to the filter.

The turnout was overwhelming when Danish Decommissioning hosted an open house and information meeting on Monday, June 18th. More than 150 citizens from Roskilde accepted the invitation, filling Risø's largest auditorium to capacity.
